Overview
This case focuses on the combination of three applications outsourced from one client; an automation testing application, a migration application for image creation, and an API interception application.
- The automation testing application is an internationalization/localization development tool for automation test script.
- The migration application for image creation is a MSI migration tool for a WW image build team.
- The API interception application is an Interceptor of Windows API that provides an API intercepting/replacing service for the whole system.
Technology
These three applications strongly utilized C# and VC++ during development.
C# is an object-oriented programming language developed by Microsoft which is multi-versatile in usage and is favored among many developers for application creation.
C++ is an enhanced version of C with added support for object-oriented programming. C++ improves a lot of features and is also a language extensible, because new types can be defined to act just like they are part of the standard language. In addition, this feature facilitates data abstraction and encapsulation, which is the key to object-oriented programming. SDIT's offshore software developers have expert knowledge and well rounded experience in C/C++ programming. Solution
As the three applications were outsourced from a single client, it was much easier to clearly understand the requirements for the applications. The operating system of these three applications were all based on Windows (En, Ge, Fr, Sc, Jp), the automation testing application and the migration application for image creation were mainly based on the C# development tool while the API interception application was developed mainly using VC++.
After communicating with the client and fully understanding the demands of the three different applications, SDIT selected the most suitable professionals to form three unique teams for development of these applications. We analyzed and debated the requirements before making a solid decision regarding what kind of methodologies and development options would generate the best results. After this, SDIT gave the client our best proposed solutions that would resolve the client's current issues that took into consideration cost savings, quality, and project time efficiency. In terms of overall quality, SDIT is a real perfectionist at heart. With this in mind, the three applications were continuously supervised by our QA team in accordance with CMM3 standards. In addition, SDIT uses our own crafted management style to avoid risks and other negatively resulting factors before they occur.
