In order to enhance the problem of students' inadequate employability of software major in Chongqing, on July 6, the Information Industry Bureau announced to start the five-year "IT5000 Public Training Programme". The government will provide the money, and the well-known multinational companies will provide training contents and teachers, this will bring free training opportunities to 25,000 to 30,000 students.
Mu Huaping who is the director of Chongqin Information Industry Bureau says that in the next five years, 200,000 more software and information service industry employees will be added; however, there are no more than 20% graduates have passed the IT outsourcing service business pre-job training. "IT5000 Public Training Programme" has chosen 4 well-known multinational companies, those people will be trained according to the demand of outsourcing industry in Europe, the United States and Japan, this will lead the pass rates raise from 20% to 60% and form a talent pool which can meet the development of industry.
It is said that, for those fresh graduates, the academic education is to enhance the professional technical knowledge, and they are lack of the quality education of "soft skills", however, the government hope to shorten the time for graduates to transfer to career and accelerate the conversion rate of resources productivity.
"IT5000 Public Training Programme" will start from Hewlett-Packard's project, HP will provide teaching materials and teachers, and 1920 fourth grade students which are recommended by four universities, such as Chongqin University, will attend the training. After the completion of training, the students will be granted "IT Outsourcing Resources Career Quality Training Certification", and get the priority in employment opportunities of outsourcing professionals recruitment.
This training programme is complementary between professional advantages of HP training and the basic education of universities, this can provide a better platform and help to graduates for their career development, and HP will also use the industrial leading enterprise-house staff training materials in social practice.
