Comparison of the University of China and India

Now China is simply compared with India in the international community: manufacturing, the service sector, foreign investment, infrastructureˇˇ almost everything. However, few universities of the two countries are relatively compared. Last year, an international consulting firm McKinsey put forward the proposal of China's Higher Education report. A simple comparison conducted between the quality of university students in China and India. India concluded that the students clearly qualified than the Chinese students at the middle-level management of multinational corporations.

Therefore, I have curiosity to Indian University, I hope to see more of how are those students nurtured, and compared with China. I was surprised by the information on hand. In recent years, China is building a "first class university": the ever increasing input of the University, the Chinese University in the world ranking has been rising. For example, in the Shanghai Jiaotong University the world's 500 World University rankings in 2003, China has 18 universities; it is already Japan's half number. Not long ago I see from the Internet, "China's most underrated university," including Lanzhou University, Yunnan University and other schools in remote areas. From the pictures, these poor local universities, their good style buildings covered the Universities of developed countries almost.

On the contrary, India seems to be in shaping Moliu University. Although in recent years, the universities in India have dramatic expansion, the major resources are on the primary education. A new University placed there after building, the funds is not enough even to maintain the laboratory. Professors' salaries are very low, and sometimes even two to three months after the salary. First-class professionals tend not to teach at the university. Even in the best schools, many professors are often canceled their classes, went to the outside to make money. No wonder this, India elite universities sharp decline.

Why? Of course there exists the Government Office of the University of Bureaucratic Obstacles. However, China has the same bureaucracy. The biggest difference between Chinese and Indian universities is that China's universities make more and more money, more and more high fees. India's universities are jokingly called "the poor Club": tuition fees have been frozen for 50 years, maintained at 180 rupees, which is a little more than four US dollars level, roughly equivalent to less than 40 Yuan RMB. Even India's poor can afford it. In addition, in India, students also enjoy various benefits. The poor often rely on universities to unreasonably high cost of living in big cities firm foothold. For example, New Delhi's rent is very high, but the Jawaharlal Nehru University student hostel on the equivalent of about a month rent eight Yuan. In addition, college students arriving by car, train, plane, and so enjoy concessions. University of the poor, it is in cities of tickets and welfare. University life equals subsidies.

Indians know that people will not make it continued, we must raise tuition fees. But India's poor have the votes, and actively vote. Who put up as a fee, and the people will react, how the results tuition fees also raised fragmentation. Indians look at the writing on the University of articles they are all full of a sense of crisis. They often compare India and China that India has been in university education is not Chinese rivals.

This is the most amazing place. University in China and India to fight ranked University, almost like the Olympic Games, and China has been left far behind, and the gap may be growing. However, how we explained McKinsey report? Why India so dilapidated structure, nurtured by the college students on the whole more than the Chinese students to adapt to the international competition? From Harvard, MIT, California Institute of Technology, Oxford, Cambridge these world-class universities, to the United States NASA, IBM, Microsoft, Intel, Dell famous high-tech institutions and multinational corporations, who can train the Indian students? In India, which took away a lot of college students the United States outsourced service industries and high-tech work? According to the "Wall Street Journal" to the information provided by India's per capita GDP is only half of China's, but, Indian software designers to achieve the average wage of 11,000 US dollars and 9,000 US dollars for China. Does this indicate that Indian universities are more effectively than China's universities in training relevant personnel?

I do not answer these questions. However, the facts can be seen from the above, with much less input, more dilapidated schools, the following fees (tuition by the return of housing, transportation, and other benefits, far more than the tuition fees paid), and much more equal system, India has more qualified professionals, those people are more qualified than the university graduates in China. So, what's the reason do we have to continue in the Dollar College, the University of Intolerance raise tuition fees? I do not advocate China's universities and India roads. U.S. market model is perhaps the world's most competitive university system. But now China's universities are moving in the road, at least unlike India well. We should know that several schools in India, such as the Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, in the country remains very competitive, and even "the most outstanding talents to enter the Indian Institute of Technology, second-rate talents to studying in the United States."In addition, as the economy took off, the rise of the middle class, many of Rai University, as the private universities to flourish. Indian University of competition, the outcome is far from a foregone conclusion. India did not give us the university to provide a development model.
