The investment is huge, but it is still in its infancy stage
From the earliest stage of using technology to the initial stage of informatization, and then to the large-scale application stage, till the integration of industrialization and informatization in 2007, China¡¯s informatization has come into a syncretic era. Five years ago, China¡¯s informatization construction had experienced a big wave of concentration, and the next was data center construction, and then, the disaster recovery centre construction, till now, on the basis of data center, we need to further integrate information resources.
At the same time, the data center is a system project with large investment, if considering the buildings inside, it will reach over 200 million Yuan¡¯s investment, and storage, networking, services and system software have also account for a substantial proportion.
Although the investment is huge, but so far, the data center is only in the initial stage. There are 14% of enterprises have started to construct since 2004, from 2004 till now, there are only 12.9% of enterprises have constructed data center, and 6% of then are planning to construct, 14% of them are plan to construct in the next 2 or 3 years.
It is expected that the IT investment market will reach 18.3 billion Yuan in 2009, including network and data software, etc. But this number is only limited to the investment of data center, and till 2009, the market growth will be 24%, this is a relatively high growth rate.
The data center is not immutable
The data center is not static, and the connotation of the data center is changing potentially. The initial storage center of enterprises is called computer room, at that time, along with the large-scale application of ERP core application system; the data center will become a computer center and then become the information center.
With the continuous mature of application, enterprises are facing the changing situation of competition, at this time, the data center can not only calculate, process, but also meet the demands and on demand. From the data center developing to business and application, it becomes an application center. The data centers of some domestic large-scale enterprises including major banks, large telecommunications companies and some large-scale manufacturing enterprises have become application centers.
The data center is developing to anther direction at the same time, it is operating services center. Because on the problems of solving calculation problems, storage problems and business problems, the enterprises are not satisfied, it is necessary for data center to provide qualified and effective services. At this time, enterprises do not only emphasize businesses, but also services in order to deliver the accurate data at right time.
It is precisely because of this reason, enterprises have two considerations on data center: First, enterprises can consider the service center as a independent unit to carry out assessment; Second, enterprises can outsource the data center to the third party and assess their efficiency of processing data.
