In the 2008 China Software and Information Services Outsourcing Summit which was just closed a few days ago, Suzhou high-tech Software Park was honorably awarded as the first winner of Excellent Chinese Information Services Outsourcing Park.
Suzhou High-tech Software Park is a national software industry base, and performs as the core function of promoting the software and outsourcing services industries of Jiangsu, Suzhou and Suzhou High-tech Zone. In recent years, with the accelerated global information industry restructuring and the solid support from the government, Suzhou High-tech Software Park has developed into a high-tech software park with its own features and strength in China's software and information services outsourcing industry. At present, the first phase of the park which is consisted of a 120,000-square-meter training base, a 60,000-square-meter industry building, and a 50,000-square-meter apartment building has been completed and launched into usage; moreover, the second-stage construction of 70,000 square meters is under planning and construction.

Suzhou High-tech Zone was constructed in November, 1990 in line with the guideline of the municipal party committee and the government in accordance with the State Council's spirit of "protect the ancient city, speed up the construction of the new district". In November 1992 it was ratified by the State Council as the National Hi-Tech Industrial Zone, and it was identified as one of the first Science and Technology Industrial Parks in the Asia-Pacific region that open to APEC members in 1997. In 1999 the park was granted as the first domestic "ISO14000 national demonstration zone" by the National Environmental Protection Agency; in 2000 it was named as a high-tech products export base of the National Hi-Tech Industrial Zone by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and Ministry of Science and Technology; in 2001 the park was approved to construct China's first state-level environmental protection high-tech industrial park; in March 2003 it was approved to establish the export processing zone by the State Council; in December 2003 it was approved by the State Environmental Protection Administration to build the first national ecological industry demonstration park.
Suzhou High-tech Zone is very convenient in traffic. It is 90 kilometers away from the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, 130 kilometers away from Pudong International Airport, 100 kilometers away from Shanghai, 90 km away from Zhangjiagang port, 70 km away from Taicang port, and 60 km away from Changshu port. Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, 312 State Road, the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Ring Expressway are all running across the zone, as well as the Century Avenue under construction.
